Natalee Holloway?s Mom Sues Over TV Series About Daughter
The mother of an American teenager missing in Aruba since 2005 is seeking $35 million in a lawsuit over a TV series about the case.
Alabama schoolteacher Beth Holloway has filed suit against producers of “The Disappearance of Natalee Holloway,” a six-part series that aired last year on the Oxygen channel.
Beth Holloway contends what was supposed to be a documentary was really a farce. She says producers knew that bone fragments featured in the show weren’t those of her daughter Natalee.
She says she endured “agonizing weeks” of uncertainty while the show played out, even providing a DNA sample for testing.
Holloway is seeking $35 million from Oxygen Media, an arm of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, and the Los Angeles-based Brian Graden Media.
Representatives from those companies haven’t responded.

Settlement Underway for Firefighter in Asiana Crash Blame Game
A firefighter blamed for the death of a teenager in the aftermath of the Asiana Airlines crash may receive a $250,000 lawsuit settlement, the San Francisco Examiner reports .
The lawsuit declared that Elyse Duckett was wrongly blamed for the death of 16-year-old Ye Meng Yuan, who died in the Asiana crash on July, 6 2013 at San Francisco International Airport. Ye was thrown from Asiana Flight 214 and two fire trucks later ran her over in the scramble to rescue passengers.
Though firefighter Jimmy Yee drove the first rig and fire-fighting foam covered Ye when Duckett drove the second rescue truck, Duckett’s was the only name leaked to the press, according to the lawsuit . Ye was one of three ejected from the back of the plane.

One dead in North Oakland shopping center crash
OAKLAND — A person who may have suffered a possible medical episode while driving died when the truck crashed, authorities said Monday.
Shortly after 3 p.m., a Ford pickup truck driving into the shopping center from its Gilbert Street and Pleasant Valley Road entrance in North Oakland began to veer right onto a sidewalk.
The truck then careened off the cement base of a light pole, crossed a nearby sidewalk and knocked a Toyota RAV4 sport-utility out of its parking stall before coming to a stop.
The truck’s driver was pronounced dead just before 3:20 p.m., authorities said.
No information was available about the cause of the crash. Responding officers blocked off the center’s Gilbert Street entrance with police tape.

A man who ran an international bookmaking operation out of the Lucky Lady Casino and Card Room in San Diego was sentenced Monday to about three years in prison, the U.S. Attorney?s Office said.

A Twitter user on Monday posted an image of a fake tweet that he claimed was from President Donald Trump after the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged nearly 1,200 points.
The fake tweet was a joke, but some Twitter users admitted they were genuinely fooled.
“If the Dow Joans ever falls more than 1000 ‘points’ in a Single Day the sitting president should be ‘loaded’ into a very big cannon and Shot into the sun at TREMENDOUS SPEED! No excuses!,” the fake Trump tweet, which was dated from 2015, stated.
“There’s always a tweet,” wrote Shaun Usher, who included an image of the fake Trump tweet in his own post on Monday.
By 4:30 p.m., the tweet had been shared more than 9,600 times and racked up more than 16,900 likes.
